The reigning champs are white-hot and they’ll burn the Packers on their way to their second consecutive Super Bowl appearance.
If you are on a roll heading into the post-season in the NFL, other teams best watch out. You’re full of confidence and belief that your team has what it takes and when you add that to a team that’s been there and done it before, it’s a recipe for victory.
The Seattle Seahawks were inconsistent to start this season but have rallied superbly, in true championship style, to not only sit atop of the NFC but boast the best defence in the NFL yet again. It’s a real strength and they’ve leaned on them to get them back into form and without a defeat in seven games, they are the team to beat.
They find a familiar foe in the Green Bay Packers, a team that are maybe lucky to be here after the now infamous Dez Bryant “incompletion” but are still a dangerous team. They have a high-powered offence led by MVP-apparent Aaron Rodgers but his injury struggles have held them back, especially in the Divisional round against the Cowboys.
Whilst Green Bay’s defence has improved compared to the past few seasons, they aren’t great against the run and when you take on the best rushing team in the NFL, that becomes a real problem. Combine that with Rodgers limping and them facing an in-form Legion of Boom, take the Seahawks to win and the teams to combine for over 46.5 points at 29/20 and for them to win the NFC Championship game.
Now keeping in mind Rodgers’ injury, which won’t have quite enough time to heal fully, you have to think that such a stern Seahawks defence will limit him. He was forced to stay in the pocket against an average pass rush, he’ll be facing a stronger one on Sunday and he’ll be throwing against an elite secondary. With that, expect the Seahawks to score a TD as the first scoring play at 5/4, either through Marshawn Lynch or the defence creating a turnover early.
The Packers QB’s ailing health is a real issue in this one, it created interceptions against an average defence in Lambeau which doesn’t look good for Sunday. With the win that opened the season fresh in their minds, go for the Seahawks to win comfortably by 7-12 points at 7/2, it’s a really unbalanced match-up when Green Bay aren’t at full capacity.
